Ansonia beats W.C.A in Week 1

The Ansonia Chargers beat the Waterbury Career Academy Spartans by a final score of 55-6 Friday night in Waterbury.

Senior Captain Darwin Amaya got the scoring started early in this one, scoring on a 92 yard run on the Chargers first offensive play of the game. Amaya would also add a 9 yard touchdown run in the first quarter.

Junior running back Shaykeem Harmon also added a pair for the Chargers, scoring on a 25 yard run, and a 39 yard pass from quarterback Sheldon Schuler - also both in the first quarter as Ansonia led 28-0 after 1.

John Picheco (5 yd run), Jy'Mere Jones (32 yard catch), Kevin Dobbs (5 yard run), and Ian Gifford (7 yard run) also scored for the Chargers.

Sophomore kicker Jalen Johnson was a perfect 7 for 7 on his extra point attempts.

Next game is the first home game, as the Chargers take on the Holy Cross Crusaders on Friday, 9/14 at 7:00. Hope to see everyone there!

Ansonia on Traditions TV

Ansonia Football was featured on a television show on Sports New York (SNY) called Traditions. The Traditions crew filmed the Chargers as they practiced leading up to the game versus Watertown. Past and present coaches and players were also interviewed.
